Website Content
Using your current marketing materials and industry information we will create compelling content for your site.
Using a text editor like notepad and create a txt file called "content.txt". Save in a directory on your computer called \yourwebsitename\info\ You will later cut and paste from this page. Don't for get to spell check this page, it will save you time later
Navigational Bar
Create an outline of main points, topics and/or services provided. Don't forget about the contact-us and about-us pages. You may find that you want to separate your navbar into major catagories. For instance using Bubbles dog grooming, they may have three separate catagories on the navbar like; Our Groomers, Grooming tips & other links. These would be major headings, then the actual links like; Peggy, Ann and Joe or under Grooming tips you might have; long haired dogs, cats and current trends. The idea is to break down your information into small enough pieces to fit on one page. It is a balancing act of getting enough information on a page without having too much. Search engines like to see many pages however, each page needs to have enough content to engage the visitor.
Subcategories
Create short paragraphs or bulleted lists for each item in your NavBar. Unless you are building a technical site avoid difficult language. Most sites should be able to be read by an Elementary student. Here is a big rule - DO NOT RELAY ON GRAPHICS to tell your story. Although they look great, if the search engines can not find you it won't matter. We will add graphics later and should only be used to enhance the visitors experience.
Refine content
Use the subcategories as a reference and write the text as it will appear on the site. Don't forget to use keywords that you researched in planning. Current trends all point to the content on your pages as being critical in good SEO. Don't be afraid to repeat keywords in your text. You may be thinking, hmmm what if I type in words in the same color as my background and hide them so only search engines can see them. Sorry, programmers thought of that a while back and the search engines figured it out. You will actually hurt your scores by doing this. Just use good text that is easy to read and includes keywords relevant to the page.
